Course Description
The Redcliffe Golf Club boasts a picturesque 18 hole Golf Course, located in the suburb of Clontarf Beach, just a 35 minute drive north of Brisbane the capital of Queensland. The championship standard course combines the characteristics of a sand belt coastal strip with the river estuary outlook across Hayes Inlet.
The course, designed by Stan Francis was built in 1935 and features a challenging Par 71, ACR 72, course length 6113 meters for men, and a Par 73, QLGU rating of 73, course length 5428 meters for the ladies. Its layout was unchanged until 1985 when the 9th and 10th holes were rebuilt to reduce ball damage to adjacent private property. The layout and the topography are such that no player on any tee has to hit-off into the sun during normal competition times.
A progressive maintenance program and a supply of recycled water from the Redcliffe City Council ensures superb year round greens and fairways.
The prevailing ocean breezes can have a major influence on your game and when a strong south-easterly is blowing the three finishing holes can be a challenge to golfers of any calibre.
The course has most recently hosted the 2005 Queensland Amateur Championship, 2004 Queensland Medal and held the Pre-qualifying events for the Australasian PGA Tour School and the Australian PGA Championship in 2000.
With a single hit-off point adjacent to the clubhouse and the eighteenth green in full view of the clubhouse deck, players can enjoy a social atmosphere while absorbing the ambience of the course and observing the golf in progress.
The course which is maintained in a parklike environment with the abundantly grassed and contoured fairways bordered by mature stands of native eucalypts is a pleasure to play and compliments the seaside lifestyle of the Redcliffe Peninsula.
